Job description
Genesis have designed a state of the art fibre splicing school based at their St Helens site and require an instructor to run courses from this site. This is a new role within the company and the successful candidate will be joining a friendly and passionate team that deliver a range of courses to the north west. The candidate will not be expected to have any tutoring experience but must have the ability to pass their knowledge and experience in the fibre industry on to others.
The Role
This is a permanent position based in St Helens and the successful candidate will be delivering a telecoms fibre course, to learners with no experience in the field, mainly focussing on C&G’s 3667. You will running multiple courses throughout the year essentially starting the next course as soon as the current course finishes.
The course you will be teaching
The course itself will be 3 weeks long and there will be 16 learners in the room. Your job as the instructor/Tutor is to guide these learners through the 3 week programme and help them achieve their 3667 qualifications. Below is what you will be expected to deliver as part of the course.
- Installing, Splicing and securing various types of fibre into various types of joints/DPs
- Interpreting job packs and fibre allocation tables
- Handover packages including photographs and diagrams
- Carrying out risk assessments and usage of guards and signs
- Testing fibre networks using OTDRs, Lightsource & power meter
- Basic understanding of telecoms networks
The Candidate
- Must have experience in the telecoms industry working with Fibre
- Must be willing to complete an assessing course which will be fully paid by ourselves
- Must be confident in delivering 3667 to learners with no experience in the industry
- Must be able to commute to our base in St Helens
Genesis Support
We will offer a wide range of support to the successful candidate which includes:
- Putting the candidate through an assessing/teaching qual so they gain the necessary tools to give them more confidence in teaching in classrooms.
- A dedicate team leader who has designed the course and set up the classroom, this leader will be able to guide you when you first start on what is expected from yourself and how to deliver the 3667 qualification.
- We currently work with a company who are experts in the telecoms field who have offered their services and support when required.
Salary: £30,000 – £42,000 depending on experience and ability to pass that knowledge onto learners.
Hours: 37.5 Monday- Friday
